Dominican Laity Admits Novices in Romblon

On August 23, 2016, thirteen (13) parishioners from the Parish of St. Joseph of the Diocese of Romblon were admitted to the Dominican Laity as novices during the Holy Mass at five in the afternoon at the St. Joseph Cathedral. The ceremony was officiated by Fr. Paul Reagan Talavera, OP, Region V – Iloilo Ecclesiastical Assistant. The following were admitted to the novitiate: Monica M. Malay, Salvacion M. Mendoza, Emy F. Bernardino, Diana G. Malay, Grace M. Moral, Susan M. Marivelez, Michael M. Maaba, Carmencita M. Molina, Ruel M. Mesana, Gilberto M. Moral, Linda M. Vertulfo, Amelia M. Balgos, and Alice M. Arizo. Br. Talavera, in his homily, reminded the aspirants to be grounded on the charism of Saint Dominic and other Dominican saints of the Order. The soon-to-be Romblon Chapter chose Saint Magdalene of Nagasaki as their patroness.  This admission into the Order was made possible through the support of the Dominican Sisters of the Most Holy Rosary of the Philippines (Molo) especially Mo. Celestine Bancal, OP, Sr. Ma. Luz Mission, OP, Sr. Ma. Cleofe Trance, OP, Sr. MarilouMangao, OP, and the Dominican Laity National President, Dr. Belen L. Tangco, OP. Also present during the admission were Br. Nery Francis M. Estoquia, OP, Regional President and Sr. Jenelina B. Joting, OP, Regional Secretary.

Dominican Laity Conducts Outreach Program in Antique

On August 29, 2016, the Dominican Laity – Santo Niño de Bugasong Chapter visited a far flung barangay in the Parish of Saint Nicolas de Tolentino, Brgy. Quezon, Tobias Fornier, in the Diocese of Antique. It is under the patronage of Saint Dominic de Guzman whose feast day is celebrated every August 8. The chapters’ visit is in connection with their Community Outreach Program. They presented to the community a 24-inch image of Saint Dominic de Guzman after the celebration of the Holy Mass officiated by Fr. JomarValdevieso, OP, a member of the Team Ministry of the Parish of St. Nicolas de Tolentino and a member of the Dominican Clerical Fraternity of the Philippines.
