As a response to the call of the Commissions on Missions and Justice, Peace and Care of Creation to send help for children of Marawi who are displaced by the ongoing war between the government forces and the Maute group, the Angelicum School together with the Parish of Sta. Maria which is administered by our dear Jesuit brothers decided to support the Black Pencil Project’s “Send Hugs to Children of Marawi”. Fr. Neupito Saicon, SJ, the new parish priest of Sta. Maria expressed his interest in the project, and after having announced it to his parishioners, the faithful showed support by sending their donations.
Likewise, the Angelicum School Iloilo, spearheaded by Mr. Michael Desano, head of the community service and student council adviser, mobilized the Angelicum School Student Council to start collecting new and old stuffed toys from our learners. They also made cards for children in Marawi to extend their greetings to their fellow youngsters. The toys were sent to St. Antoninus House in Davao City through our Br. Oscar Novem Enjaynes, OP, the house superior.
