Since the Prior Provincial, Fr. Napoleon B. Sipalay, Jr. OP, requested all our brothers from our different communities to attend this year’s celebration of the Solemnity of St. Dominic de Guzman in our provincialate house in Sto. Domingo Church in Quezon City, our community decided to advance the celebration in the house and school. It has been a tradition to host a simple lunch with the clergy and different religious men and women in the Archdiocese of Jaro every August 8. However, this year, we decided to move it to August 6, 2017 during the feast of the Transfiguration. Incidentally, it was also the 6th Presbyteral Ordination anniversary of Fr. Paul Reagan Talavera, OP. The event was attended by the diocesan clergy headed by Most Rev. Angel Lagdameo, DD, Archbishop of Jaro. Likewise the Association of Consecrated Women in Iloilo attended the event headed by their President Sr. Letecia Villalobos, MST, and the Association of Consecrated Men in the Archdiocese of Jaro led by their President Fr. Domingo Arnaiz, MHM. Members of the Dominican Family that includeed the Dominican Laity, Dominican Sisters of the Most Holy Rosary of the Philippines and Brothers from the Filii Sancti Dominici also graced the occasion.
The Angelicum School Community had its celebration on August 7, 2017 which started with a Mass with our learners, learning facilitators, employees and parents. Semi-dependent learners had their poster making contest while independent learners had a quiz bee which centered on the life and works of St. Dominic de Guzman. Prizes for the event were sponsored by our brothers from Filii Sancti Dominici Panay Chapter as coordinated by Fray Ruben Cerbo. A simple lunch was then served for our learning facilitators and employees.
