The Commission on Higher Education (CHED) named Aquinas University of Legazpi (AUL) as a Center for Bikol Studies under the CMO No. 33, series of 2016 in the K-12 Transition Program.
As Center for Bikol Studies, the university will take the lead in promoting what Bikol is and what the Bikolano academics can do towards the dissemination, preservation, promotion, and propagation of the Bikol Cultural Heritage. For this endeavour, AUL is also in partnership with the following Higher Education Institutions: Bicol University, Catanduanes State University, Dr. Emilio B. Espinosa Sr. Memorial State College of Agriculture and Technology, and Sorsogon State College.
The Center was officially launched during the opening salvo of the University Week on January 27, 2017. Honored guests and representatives from the partner institutions, government agencies together with Bikolano writers and artists were in attendance.
