Santo Domingo Convent Inaugurates New Candle Area and Restored Bas-Reliefs

On August 6, 2016, after the second day of the triduum in honor of Saint Dominic, the members of the Convent of Santo Domingo inaugurated the new candle area for the church.

Br. Roland Mactal, OP, Prior of the Convent, led the rite of blessing. Also blessed during this occasion were the newly restored bas-reliefs of the Dominican Saints of the Rosary with their new labels which include a short biography and a prayer in honor of the saint. This was done with the aim of strengthening the devotion to the Dominican saints and to provide another venue where the faithful can say their prayers. Architect Don de Guzman made the design for the new candle area. It was carried out by the contractor, OCM Steel Corporation. Luisito Ac-ac, a wood sculptor from Paete, Laguna, carved the bas-reliefs of the Dominican saints.
